2nd in September: Israeli Soldiers Shoot Schoolgirl in the Head

  
KHANYOUNIS, September 25, 2004, (WAFA)- An 11-year-old Palestinian schoolgirl was shot and wounded today in the head by Israeli soldiers while she was at her class in the southern Gaza Strip Refugee Camp of Khanyounis, witnesses and Palestinian medical sources said.

Witnesses told WAFA that Madeline Braeika, was wounded when Israeli soldiers, stationed at the watchtowers of Neve Dekalim Colony, opened fire at the UNRWA's "Tareq Bin Ziad Elementary School" in Khanyounis camp.

Medics said that the girl was moderately wounded in the head after having been struck with a gunshot.

The colony of "Neve Dekalim" is 200 meters far from the Refugee Camp of Khanyounis.

Madeline is the second school girl shot by Israeli soldiers in Khanyounis in the current September.

Last Wednesday, a 10-year-old year girl, Raghda al-Assar, died of wounds she sustained after having been shot by Israeli soldiers while she was at her class in the UNRWA's "Elementary C Girls School" in Khanyounis camp. Raghda was shot, on September 7, by the Israeli soldiers, stationed at the watchtowers of Neve Dekalim Colony also.
