Mission: The establishment of the
Palestinian Curriculum Development Center (PCDC) as part of the Palestinian national endeavor to upgrade the Palestinian educational system, is to develop a new curriculum that meets the future needs, new circumstances, and
social and moral values of the Palestinian people. The implementation of the Curricula Plan, ratified by the Palestinian Cabinet and the Legislative Council in 1998, is the mission the Curriculum Center set out to
accomplish. A high level ministerial committee, headed by the Minister of Education and Higher Education, supervises the implementation of the Curricula Plan. Other committees, appointed by the Ministry, are responsible for different parts of the plan.
The goal of the Curricula Plan is:
To promote national unity, lay the foundation for the development of human resources, and accelerate the economic growth of the nation;
foster the highest moral, ethical and spiritual values of integrity, responsibility, equality, and reverence for life; and to encourage accountability, and respect for the value and dignity of work.
To promote Arab, regional, and international understanding, cooperation and peace; to promote liberty, justice, democracy, and human
rights; and respect for other cultures and religious beliefs.
To develop understanding of the natural and social environment, civic responsibility, artistic appreciation and expression, social skills,
and promote physical and mental health; and prepare learners for the responsibilities and challenges of adulthood and citizenship.
To develop knowledge, creativity and practical skills, as the foundation for academic or vocational training, for a creative, meaningful
and productive life; and to develop the individual’s potential, including those with special learning needs.
To foster and the spiritual and religious well-being of the learner, respect for diversity, and freedom of belief.
